Safe Driving During Spring and Summer
Though this winter weather has been slow to leave, we are fairly certain that Spring is finally here. Each season brings with it challenges on the road. The wet leaves of Fall and snow and ice of winter create challenges for drivers all over Cecil and New Castle Counties every year. Often, folks think that Spring and Summer are a breeze on the roads. The truth is that spring and summer storms and more drivers logging more miles makes for a bad combination this time of year. Here are some tips to make sure you have a safe spring and summer driving season:
- As with all seasons, make sure that your tires have proper tread depth and are properly inflated.
- Check your wiper blades. If there are tears in the blades or wipers are not making complete contact with the windshield, be sure to replace your wiper blades or have your auto mechanic do it for you.
- Spring and summer storms pop up quickly. During the first half hour of a storm, oil and water mixes on the road to create a slick surface. Make sure you give other drivers plenty of room to stop.
